Every year, on August9, Singapore celebrates its National Day in A grand way. This year is no exception. In fact the celebration this year will be grander.
As a precude to the National Day celebration proper,Primary5 pupils from all schools were invited to watch the National Educational show at Marina Bay. I was very happy and excited. The show took place on a Sunday, 11th July 2009.
We assemble at school at 1:30 p.m.Everyone of us was in a hight spirits. We recived a goodie bag each, which contained our packaged dinner and several items, including a raincoat. When we arrived at Marina Bay it was already 3:30p.m. The stage was decorated with flags and bantings. It looked so beautiful and colourful.
As the show began almost immediately we sat in silence watching the performances which showed the history of Singapore and how this 'Lion City' was founded. The crowd applauded and roared loudly as one episode followed another.
The most exciting item was the singing and dancing programme. At that point the weather changed suddenly. It began to rain cats and dogs. Althought we had our rain coat, we were all drenched. However, the performances continued to entertain the spectators. Everyone of us watched the performances with pride and admiration. The spectators stood their ground and enjoyed the show thoroughtly.I went home with all wet but happy.

Our school organised a camping trip on seventh April 2009. It was a three- day camp and all pupils from P5 had to attend.The camping was compulsory. I waited anxiously for the day to arrive. Finally we all at the MOE campsite at Laborder Park.
Our adventure started on the first day.We were taken to Sentosa Island by bus.We all organised of groups of fourteen led by instructors. We were briefed before we set out. We were to explored the island and made observations.We have to answer questions as we passed from stations to stations. This were checkpoints. We have fun but the trip was rather tiring. At night back at the camp side we played a game called 'kidnapped'. After which we retired early.
The event on the second day was more exciting. We climbed up a three-storey building and we absailed from building to ground level.When my turn came I was scared and I screamed at the top of my voice.Suddenly it was all over.
Our camp fire was held on the night of the second day. We gathered around the camp fire together with our teachers and instructors.Each team presented an item.We sang and danced.It was indeed an enjoyable evening.
On the morning of the third day we broke camp and returned to the school where many parents were waiting for their children. The camp was a memorable one leaving me with such pleasant experience. One thing I have learnt from the camp is teamwork which I realise it is so important when you need to do a project well.

Yesterday, our school celebrated Total Defence Day. Why were we celebrating total defence day? The answer is, to remind us of our duties to our nation. Our school showed us a real incident about a man who put a bomb in a bag and entered the MRT and when he sat down he immediately put the bag under his seat . The he alighted at the next station. When the train arrived in Ang Mo Kio. the bomb exploded and a lot of people died. I felt very sad.
our principalalso told us that Total Defence has five aspects - Military Defence, Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence and Psychological Defence. These five aspects represent the key sectors of society. They also help Singaporeans understand how they can be involved. When we take National Service seriously, volunteer in civil defence exercises, help build a strong economy, strengthen community ties with one another regardless of race and religion, and stay committed to defend the country.
"Toyal Defence Day " is celebrated every year,It reminds all walks can play a part. All the conbined efforts are to ensure that Singapore will continue to enjoy peace and prosperity.

If you ask me what I will defend,I will defend my story books because I love story books. The story books I would like to defend is the Chinese book which I like and It is precious to me and the English book I will defend are Harry Potter and Nania.I love them!!

Today was the Chinese New Year celebration in our school. I felt very happy but also very sad. The reason I was happy was that I recive alot of congratulations. The reason I was sad was that I couldn't go back to China to celebrate Chines New Year with my family.But never mind!even I was in Singapore but I still could see many people celebrating Chinese New Year!

In school we watch alot of performance. The first one was a magic show. It was very fun and exiting . But at the same time it was also very dangerous.The second one was a Chinese drama. I t was really very boring even thought it was acted by our Chinese teacher.The last show was lion dance. It was fun and colourful but the drums were so loud that I was almost deaf.

Last Friday was the fist day of school. I was very exited because I joined a new class there are many new classmates.

My new teacher is Miss Lee. She is a kind teacher. My favourite subject is English because it is the most interesting subject. It is also taught by my favourite teacher. I have two best friends. They are Jing Qi and Jamie.They are good good students.

During recess I met some of my old classmates at the school canteeen. We chatted excitedly regarding events during the school holidays.

My mathethmatics teacher came into the class after recess.She was rather cheerful and our first lesson began. She introduced the concept of addtion and subtraction using numbers. I enjoyed the lesson because the new lesson was rather challenging .

I look forward for the months ahead to do well in my studies.
